How hotels appear in Gemini (and how to measure it)
Gemini lives inside the Google ecosystem your guests already use every day. reporte.ai shows you the visits it sends to your website, where they land and whether they move toward a booking, so you can strengthen exactly the pages it favors.
AI sessions measured across the sites we track, last 30 days.
Quick answer
Gemini is one of the smaller AI assistant channels in the hotel and travel websites we measure with our own pixel, and its behavior is the opposite of ChatGPT's: most Gemini visitors land on the homepage, with the rest split between commercial pages and blog guides. Gemini sends guests to your front door, so your front door has to answer. reporte.ai tells you whether that is already happening on your site.
What we measure about Gemini
The data comes from a first-party pixel on your own website, counted session by session. For Gemini, reporte.ai records:
- Real visits: sessions whose referrer or UTM identifies Gemini, not modeled estimates.
- Landing page: Gemini tends to concentrate on homepages and pages like tickets, location and rooms, which tells you exactly which pages to strengthen.
- The journey to your booking engine: whether AI sessions reach a booking step. In the properties we measure, visits arriving from AI assistants reach a booking step more often than the rest of the traffic.
- Whether Gemini cites you: prompt analysis asks real traveler questions with web grounding and records if the assistant names your property and at what position.
A note on honesty: Gemini is still a modest channel for most properties. We publish the pattern as measured and let the tracking, not the headline, do the selling.
How to appear in Gemini recommendations
Gemini draws on Google's ecosystem, so the levers are the ones Google already sees.
- Treat your Google Business Profile as a second homepage. Name, address, amenities, photos and fresh reviews. For Gemini, an inconsistent profile is a reason to recommend someone else.
- Make your homepage answer in the first screen. Most Gemini visitors in the sites we measure land there. Who you are, where you are, and a "from" price should be readable without scrolling or clicking.
- Be indexed and healthy in Google Search. Gemini's grounding uses Google's index. Pages blocked from Google, or thin pages Google skips, do not exist for Gemini either.
- Mark up your property with schema.org. Hotel or LodgingBusiness structured data with address, geo and price range gives Gemini machine-readable facts instead of prose to interpret.
- Keep "from" prices in plain HTML. Rates that only render inside the booking engine's JavaScript are invisible to crawlers. A visible price is a citable fact.
- Keep your data consistent everywhere. Site, profile and listings telling the same story is what makes you a safe citation.
AI assistants compared
Patterns we see across the hotel and travel websites measured with our own pixel. Your own mix, session by session, is what the panel shows you.
| Assistant | What we see in the hotels we measure | Where visitors tend to land |
|---|---|---|
| ChatGPT | By far the assistant that sends the most visits | Blog guides that answer a specific question |
| Copilot | Second by traffic, behaves like ChatGPT | Practical logistics guides |
| Perplexity | Smaller and citation driven | Rooms, offers and content pages |
| Gemini | Smaller, tied to Google's ecosystem | The homepage |
| Claude | The smallest channel today | In-depth guides |
FAQ
A small share today in the sites we measure, and we say so rather than dress it up. What makes Gemini worth tracking is its pattern: it sends guests to your homepage and commercial pages, and the point of measuring is catching the moment its volume changes.
Two signals. Traffic: the pixel logs every session arriving from Gemini and its landing page. Citations: prompt analysis asks Gemini real traveler questions with web grounding and records whether it names you, at what position, and which competitors it names instead.
No honest fixed answer exists. Gemini reflects what Google's index and your Business Profile say, so improvements surface after recrawls and profile updates, typically weeks. We measure a baseline first so you see the change in real sessions.
Yes. The network we measure includes campsites alongside hotels, and the pixel, the AI traffic report and the booking journey work identically for campsites, hostels and apartments.
Real sessions on your website: where each visitor came from, which page they entered through, and whether they reached a booking step. It classifies 27 AI assistant brands by referrer and UTM out of the box. It counts visits, it does not estimate them.
Yes. One script, running alongside GA4 or any other analytics without conflict. GA4 has no default channel for AI assistants, so Gemini visits hide inside referral or direct traffic. The pixel separates them automatically.
